Unfortunately it appears that yours is one of the kayaks that would need a special order spray skirt. As the dimensions of this boat do not fit within the traditional sizing offered by Immersion Research or Seals Spray. Seals Spray indicates that you would need to special order the skirt, Immersion Research appears to not have the correct sizes available.

I bought a KL industries waterquest 10 foot kayak and cant find a spray skirt for it anywhere. the cockpit opening measures 25×41 inches. can you help?

Unfortunately after doing a bit of research, it seems you may need to turn to KL Industries directly or have a custom spray skirt made. After checking with Immersion Research, Seal Spray and Harmony, all of them make skirts that will fit the length of the cockpit on your Water Quest but none of them make a single model that fits the width (a trait that seems a bit common with the Water Quest models, from what I can see). I would recommend giving KL Industry a call directly, as they do make a spray skirt specifically for this model. If they do not have anything available, I would recommend giving Seals Spray a call from there, as they make custom skirts and covers specifically for bigger cockpit models such as this one. I have a second-hand WaveSport SuperEZ with a cockpit that measures L: 37", W: 21" and circumference: 97".
My waist is 29″. So am I correct in looking for a XXL cockpit and S tunnel?
I’ve done up to class III rapids, have rolled in class II and putzed around in surf. Let’s say I’m an aspirational class III paddler. Do I really need a rand skirt or will a bungee (which is what I’ve used so far on other boats) be sufficient?

Hey Ranjeet,
You have it correct, you would want an Immersion Research skirt with a XXL cockpit and a S waist. As for the rand skirt, this will only help to keep water out of the cockpit and stay a bit more snug to the kayak itself. However you do not need to have one to roll in class III rapids and a regular bungee skirt will work just fine for you. I hope this helps!
